Frequently asked questions.

What kind of school is Saguaro Virtual Academy?

Saguaro Virtual Academy is a K-8 public school campus of Isaac School District #5, providing free education for eligible families who reside within Arizona. The school has no fees or costs, is fully regulated and accredited by the Arizona Department of Education, and accepts all students who are eligible to enroll in public schools.

Why should I enroll my child in Saguaro, rather than another virtual school?

Saguaro Virtual Academy is a proven public program, piloted by a leadership team with deep expertise in the unique facets of virtual education. Our program provides trustworthy curriculum, transparent accountability, exceptional communication, and a more intimate environment than other virtual schools. Because we are a public school, not a charter or for-profit, you can trust that we prioritize our students and their success at all times.

How do I know if my child is eligible to enroll?

To enroll in Saguaro Virtual Academy, you must be a legal resident of Arizona and your child must be of an appropriate age for the grade that they’re enrolling in. During the enrollment process, we will require basic documentation to prove your eligibility, including:

  • A photo ID of the child’s parent/guardian

  • The birth certificate of the child being enrolled

  • Proof of residency in Arizona

When can I enroll my child?

Anytime! Saguaro Virtual Academy is a public school, and will be accepting applications and enrolling students in all grades unless a section has reached its capacity. Students are eligible to enroll anytime during the school year, and enrollment for the upcoming year typically begins in the Spring.

What makes a successful virtual student?

A successful virtual student has two key attributes; they’re able to work independently or with support from adults in their home, and they’re enrolled in a program that adapts to their unique needs and circumstances. We will do everything we can to maximize the success of each student in our program, but the difference in environment between a virtual classroom and a physical one requires higher engagement from the student and their family than other programs. For our families, this trade-off is worth it, and we believe that virtual programs are a vital part of serving all of the families in Arizona.
